The man famous for playing the role of Bo Duke on the classic television show “The Dukes of Hazzard” is facing a marital separation after 21 years of marriage, according to entertainment sources. Connecticut “Dukes” fans may be surprised to hear of John Schneider’s impending divorce, particularly after two decades of matrimony. However, as many people are already aware, the duration of a marriage plays little role in whether or not a couple stays together “until death do them part.”
The divorce documents were filed in the couple’s state of residence in November of this year. Schneider’s wife Elvira cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split, but no further details were publicly released as of this report. The couple has three adult children, which means child custody will not figure into their divorce agreement.
What will figure in, of course, is asset division. This report did not include an estimate of Schneider’s net worth, but considering his role in the iconic 80’s television series, as well as recurring roles on TV’s popular “Smallville” and the release of a moderately successful Christmas album, it seems likely that his assets will be considerable. This means that mediation will likely be helpful to the couple as they work to come to an equitable settlement.
Divorce can happen days after a wedding or decades after vows are exchanged. Some Connecticut residents understand how difficult it can be for a couple to split up after so long together, but ultimately divorce can be the best decision for a struggling marriage. Support for both parties is available in abundance in this state, from mediation to counseling.
