Scott Stapp, singer of Creed, faces divorce

On Behalf of | Dec 8, 2014 | Divorce |

The wife of a prominent rock singer is seeking an end to their marriage, according to news sources. Connecticut fans may recognize the iconic voice of Creed frontman Scott Stapp, who rose to prominence in the late 1990s and early 2000s with chart-topping rock singles like “With Arms Wide Open.” The singer’s wife has cited his struggles with drugs and alcohol as cause for their impending divorce.

The couple, who married in 2006, has since had three children together. Jaclyn Stapp has voiced her concern for the couple’s children as being her primary motivator in seeking a termination of their marriage. She has gone on the record asking for privacy from media outlets during this difficult time for the family.

Stapp has had very public struggles with addiction issues in the past, a fact brought up in the divorce paperwork. Jaclyn asked a local judge to admit Stapp to a treatment facility back in November, after the singer left the family home the month before. While the divorce is slated to go through, Stapp’s wife has pledged to help her estranged husband through his rehabilitation process regardless of their marital status.

Sometimes, divorce is not the result of anger or a loss of love, but because of extenuating circumstances. Connecticut residents understand, however, that no relationship is totally unbreakable, and sometimes these stresses add up. Thankfully, there is support available for those struggling through a difficult transition like divorce, no matter what the cause for the separation might be.
