The old saying “til death do us part” hardly applies in the modern era, but there is still something to be said for the staying power of a marriage that endures for over a decade. But more and more, experts are noticing divorce rates among Connecticut residents married for anywhere from fifteen years up are on the rise. The reality, experts say, is that divorce can happen to anyone, and a number of factors can lead to a breakdown of a long-standing marriage.
Quite often, couples who become parents sublimate their relationship into those roles, and take joy in raising a family together. But when the children grow up and leave the proverbial nest, they are left with one another again for the first time in years — and they may discover they no longer “know” the partner they’ve known only as a co-parent for so long. This loss of connection can lead some to consider a separation.
Additionally, the threat of the so-called “midlife crisis” can cause ripples in an otherwise happy marriage. Some people come to an epiphany about the fleeting nature of life, and that realization may lead them to desire a change in their status. While this realization brings some couples together, it has the capacity to force others apart.
Facing divorce after years of commitment can be devastating to an individual and to a couple, as many Connecticut residents are keenly aware. It is beneficial to seek support during this difficult time to ensure both parties understand their rights and responsibilities. Solving a divorce quickly and efficiently can allow both parties to move forward in a positive way.
