New service will aid victims of domestic violence

Residents of Connecticut may have heard the recent improvements to 911 services in the state. Now, a person in need of assistance can send a text message, rather than call a dispatcher. While this new technology is meant to assist persons who have a disability that makes phone calls difficult, it will also help victims of domestic violence summon help discreetly.

Single parents may want to consider filing for child support

A recent study shows that about 40% of Connecticut households are having trouble making ends meet. Even when parents have a full-time job, average wages do not seem to be enough to cover household expenses. Statistically, single parents have a harder time than households with two working adults. Filing for court-ordered child support payments can ease the financial burden of caring for children.
