Connecticut man charged with domestic violence after police chase

A relationship where abuse is present is never easy, especially when children are involved. The idea of leaving can be terrifying, particularly if the abuser is physically violent. Those in Connecticut who have fled a domestic violence situation often find the abuser to be continually aggressive and controlling, refusing to give up.

Police responded to a call from an individual seeking assistance for a domestic disturbance a little after 7 a.m. recently. A 42-year-old male was allegedly assaulting a victim and damaging a vehicle. The suspect fled the scene in his car prior to the police arriving.

In responding the call for assistance, a police officer spotted the perpetrator's vehicle and attempted to pull the man over. The suspect refused and fled again. The man was apprehended shortly after he fled his automobile on foot. The victim was attended to by paramedics at the scene with minor injuries. Child services and the local police department continue to work together in the investigation.

Finding the courage to seek help and escape an unhealthy relationship is the biggest hurdle victims of domestic violence may face. Community resources within the state of Connecticut are available to assist victims who are ready to exit the abusive situation and move on. With the help of an experienced and compassionate attorney, victims of domestic abuse can receive help in filing a petition for a protective order. The attorney will also help victims gain access to these community resources while seeking a legal divorce and child custody, in appropriate circumstances.
