Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne reportedly headed for divorce

On Behalf of | May 17, 2016 | Divorce |

After 33 years of marriage, one of rock and roll’s most enduring couples appears to be headed for a marital split. For Connecticut fans, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne are household names, the former for his prodigious musical career and the latter for the front-line role she took in managing her husband’s career and his notorious substance abuse issues. Now it appears Sharon is seeking a divorce.

The couple have several children, but all of them are grown adults, so child custody will not play a role in their divorce agreement. The state where they reside is considered a no-fault state, which means the majority of the settlement will revolve around splitting assets and debts. Considering Ozzy’s fame and success in the music industry, it seems likely the asset division will involve large sums of money as well as physical property.

Sadly, it appears the divorce may have been predicated by rumors of infidelity on Ozzy’s part. A hairdresser local to the couple is believed to have been involved in an extramarital affair with the singer, which may have played a role in Sharon’s decision to file for divorce. Depending on the decision of the court, this issue could influence what alimony, if any, might be paid out.

While a celebrity divorce is hardly cause for news in this day and age, it can serve as a valuable talking point for Connecticut residents considering ending their marriages. Even long-lasting marriages rife with years-long trials can end in divorce. No matter how much property is being divided, it is always important for both parties to fully understand their rights and responsibilities under the law and seek appropriate counsel to guide them through the process.
